14.09% the average decrease of the Industrial Producer’s Price Index for June 2020

The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the Industrial Producer’s Price Index for June 2020 to reach 104.43 against 121.56 for the same month of 2019 recorded a decrease by 14.09%. The main commodities groups which contributed to this decrease were the price index of the Manufacturing Industries by 13.82 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% and the price index of Quarrying industries by 0.39 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% .Meanwhile, there was an increase in the Industrial Producer’s Prices Index of Electricity by 0.13 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%.
The report also indicates an increase in the producer’s prices index for June 2020 to reach 104.43 against 100.69 compared with the previous month (May) of 2020 leading an increase by 3.71%. This has resulted mainly from an increase in the price index of the Manufacturing Industries by 3.99 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% and the Electricity production by 0.01 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8% .Meanwhile ,there was a decrease in the price of Quarrying production by 0.28 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2%.
During the first half of 2020 we notice that, there was a decrease in the producer’s price index to reach 111.14 against 120.40 for the same period of 2019 to record a decrease by 7.69%.This mainly has resulted from a decrease in the price of Manufacturing production by 7.18 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% ,the price of the Quarrying Industries by 0.51 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% and the price of Electricity production by 0.01 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%.
