0.3% GDP growth rate at constant prices in the first quarter of 2021
The Department of Statistics issued the results of the preliminary quarterly estimates of the GDP at fixed prices for the first quarter of 2021. The results show that the growth rate reached 0.3% during the first quarter of 2021 compared with the same period of 2020.
At the level of economic sectors, preliminary estimations of some sectors have shown growth during the first quarter of 2021 compared with the first quarter of 2020. The results indicated that the Quarrying Industries sector has achieved the highest growth rate at 15.3%, followed by the Agricultural Sector by the 2.9%, Finance, Insurance and Business Services Sector by 2.1% and governmental sector by 1.0%. Meanwhile, the Social & Personal Services Sector has achieved the highest decrease rate at -3.0%, followed by Transport, Storage & Communications Sector by -2.3% and Constructions Sector by -1.8%.
