0.1% the average increase in the prices of wholesale trade for the first quarter of 2019
Quarterly report issued by the Department of Statistics on the wholesale trade prices for the first quarter of 2019, indicates an increase in the wholesale trade prices by 0.1% to reach 97.8 in 2019 compared with 97.7 during the same period in 2018. This was a result of an increase in the prices of the group of “trade of raw agricultural materials, cereals and food products, beverages & tobacco” by 2.3% which represent 0.36 percentage points and the prices of “sale of motor vehicles and their parts and motorcycles” by 1.5%, this group has increased the index number by 0.12 percentage points, which their relative importance constituted 39.2% and 19.8% respectively.
The group of “Sale of machinery, equipment and supplies” has decreased by 9.1% representing 0.33 percentage points ,same as the prices of “Sale of fuel, metals and construction materials and fitting” has decreased by 0.9% representing 0.07 percentage points. The group of “sale of garments, clothes and housing and personal commodities” has also decreased by 0.5% representing 0.02 percentage points, which their relative importance constituted 9.3% , 20.8%and 10.9% respectively.
The report also indicates a decrease in the general wholesale trade price index for the first quarter of 2019 by 0.8% compared with fourth quarter of 2018. This was a result of a decrease in the prices of the group of “Sale of fuel, metals and construction materials and fitting” by 2.8% representing 0.58 percentage points and the group of “trade of raw agricultural materials ,cereals and food products, beverages & tobacco” by 0.7%, this group was contributed in the decrease of the index number by 0.29 percentage points, the prices of the group of “Sale of machinery, equipment and supplies” by 1.6 % which represent 0.15 percentage points, and the prices of “ sale of garments, clothes and housing
