Apr Industrial Production Quantities decrease by 7.7% during February 2018
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the General Industrial Production Quantities for Feb 2018 to reach 83.9 against 90.9 for the same month of 2017 recording a decrease by 7.7%. This mainly was a result of a decrease in the production quantities of manufacturing industries by 8.0% with a relative importance of 86.0% representing a decrease of 6.9 percentage points, the quantities of quarrying production by 5.4% with a relative importance of 8.2% representing a decrease of 0.4 percentage points and the quantities of electricity production by 6.2% with a relative importance of 5.8% representing a decrease of 0.4 percentage points.
The report also indicates a decrease in the industrial index number of the industrial production for Feb 2018 to reach 83.9 against 94.3 for Jan of the same year to retreat by 11.0 %.This has resulted mainly from a decrease in the production quantities of the manufacturing Industries by 10.5% with a relative importance of 86.0% representing a decrease of 9.0 percentage points, the quantities of quarrying production by 12.7% with a relative importance of 8.2% representing a decrease of 1.0 percentage points and the quantities of electricity production by 16.8% with a relative importance of 5.8 % representing a decrease of 1.0 percentage points.
Comparing the index number for the first two months of 2018, it shows a decrease in the Index number of industrial production quantities to reach 89.1 versus 92.9 for the same period of 2017. representing a decrease by 4.1% compared with the same period of 2017 . This mainly was a result of a retreat in the index number of industrial production quantities of the manufacturing Industries by 5.1% with a relative importance of 86.0% representing a decrease by 4.4% percentage points and the quantities of electricity production by 3.0% with a relative importance of 5.8% representing a decrease by 0.2 percentage points. Meanwhile, there was a an increase in the index number of quantities of quarrying production by 6.2% with a relative importance of 8.2%, representing an increase by 0.5 percentage points.
