Industrial Production Index decrease by 11.1% during October 2019
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the General Industrial Production Index for October 2019 to reach 85.7 against 96.4 for the same month of 2018 recording a decrease by 11.1%. This mainly was a result of a decrease in the production index of manufacturing industries by 11.50 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0%. Meanwhile ,there was an increase of quarrying industries production by 0.34 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% and the quantities of electricity production by 0.02 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%.
The report also indicates an increase in the industrial index number of the industrial production index for October 2019 to reach 85.7 against 82.3 for September 2019 to record an increase by 4.1%.This has resulted mainly from an increase in the production index of the manufacturing Industries by 3.97 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% and the quantities of quarrying production by 0.45 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% . Meanwhile ,there was a decrease in the quantities of the electricity production by 0.29 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%
Comparing the production indices for the 1st ten months of 2019, there was a decrease in the industrial production index to reach 87.6 against 91.1 for the same period of 2018, leading to a decrease in the index number of the industrial production by 3.9%.
