Industrial Production Index decrease by 1.6 % during July 2019

The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the General Industrial Production Index for July 2019 to reach 93.2 against 94.7 for the same period of 2018 recording a decrease by 1.6%. This mainly was a result of a decrease in the production index of manufacturing industries by 2.34 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% and the quantities of electricity production by 0.07 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%. Meanwhile, there was an increase of quarrying industries production by 0.81 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2%.

The report also indicates an increase in the industrial index number of the industrial production for July 2019 to reach 93.2 against 88.4 for June 2019 to record an increase by 5.4%. This has resulted mainly from the increase of the production index of the manufacturing Industries by 4.98 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% ,the quantities of the quarrying production by 0.05% percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% and the quantities of electricity production by 0.41 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%.
Comparing the production indices for the first 7 months of 2019, there was a decrease in the industrial production index to reach 88.6 against 89.3 for the same period of 2018, leading to a decrease in the index number of the industrial production by 0.7%.

This retreat has resulted from a decrease in the production index of manufacturing industries by 1.35 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0%.Meanwhile, there was an increase in the quarrying industries index by 0.44 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% and the production index of electricity by 0.17 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%.
