14.7% the Average Increase in Agricultural Producers’ Prices during Feb 2019
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates an increase in the Average Agricultural Producers’ Price Index for Feb 2019 by 14.7% compared with Feb 2018. (The Price Index reached 111.2 in Feb 2019 compared with 97.0 in Feb 2018).The most significant crops that contributed to this increase were green lettuce 168.7%, eggplants 145.6%, tomatoes 86.3%, green onions 78.2%, cabbage 52.5%, cauliflower 44.3%, broad beans 28.4%, squash 16.4%, lemon 16.3% and potatoes by 10.2%.
( the total of their relative importance constituted 75.3% of the total indicator value).
Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the price index of sage, fennel, strawberry, carrot, arugula, beetroot, maize, radish, cucumber and banana by (37.4%), (36.2%), (33.2%), (24.0%), ( 20.6%), (19.1%), (14.6%), (7.1%), (6.5%) and (3.9%) respectively (the total of their relative importance constituted 24.7% of the total indicator value ) .
The report also shows that the Price Index has increased by 29.2% in Feb 2019 as compared with Jan 2019 (the price index reached 111.2 in Feb 2019 compared with 86.1 in Jan 2019). The most significant crops that contributed to this increase (the total of their relative importance constituted 46.8%) were cucumber 78.1%, lettuce 38.1%, string beans 30.0%, thyme 29.9%, eggplants 23.9%, Madeline 23.8%, colored sweet pepper 17.6%, lemon 14.2%, dry onion 12.1% and orange 9.8%. Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the price index of tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, spinach, cabbage, potatoes, broad beans, strawberry, Chinese lettuce, squash and green sweet pepper by (48.8%), (42.4%), (40.6%), (31.1%), (28.2%), (26.0%), (15.2%), (11.7%), (11.6%) and (10.8%) respectively with a relative importance reached 53.2% of the total indicator value.
On the accumulative level the Average Agricultural Producers’ Price Index indicates an increase for the first two months of 2019 by 15.4% compared with the same period of 2018.Where the accumulative Price Index reached 98.7 of 2019 compared with 85.6 for the same period of 2018).The most significant crops that contributed to this average increase were tomatoes 184.6%, eggplants 117.1%, cauliflower 59.8%, green sweet pepper 30.4%, squash 28.6%, string beans 10.3%, hot pepper 8.5%, potatoes 8.4%, colored sweet pepper 7.6% and bananas by 1.6%.

Meanwhile the average price index of cucumber decreased by 28.1% with a relative importance of 16.7%.
