Industrial Production Quantities increase by 1.9% during November 2017
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates an increase in the General Industrial Production Quantities for Nov 2017 to reach 98.1 against 96.3 for the same month of 2016 recorded an increase by 1.9% as compared with same month 2016. This mainly was a result of an increase in the production quantities of the manufacturing Industries by 2.0% with a relative importance of 86.0%, this sector had contributed to the increase of the price index by 1.8 percentage points and the quantities of quarrying production by 2.9% with a relative importance of 8.2% representing an increase of 0.1 percentage points.. Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the quantities of electricity production by 1.3% with a relative importance of 5.8% representing a decrease of 0.02 percentage points.
The report also indicates a decrease in the industrial index number of the industrial production for Nov 2017 to reach 98.1 against 102.4 for Oct of the same year to retreat by 4.2%. This has resulted mainly from a decrease in the production quantities of the manufacturing Industries by 4.2% with a relative importance of 86.0% representing a decrease of 3.0 percentage points and the quantities of quarrying production by 6.1% with a relative importance of 8.2% representing a decrease of 1.0 percentage points. and there was a decrease in the quantities of electricity production by 2.2%. with a relative importance of 5.8% representing a decrease of 0.2 percentage points .
Comparing the price index of the first eleven months of 2017, it shows a decrease in the industrial index number of the industrial production to reach 97.3 versus 98.1 for the same period of 2016, by 0.8% decrease compared with the same period of 2016; this mainly was a result of a retreat in the production quantities of the manufacturing Industries by 2.5% with a relative importance of 86.0% representing a decrease of 8.1 percentage points. Meanwhile, there was a an increase in quantities of quarrying production by 13.3% with a relative importance of 8.2% representing an increase of 6.2 percentage points and the quantities of electricity production by 3.6% with a relative importance of 5.8 % representing an increase of 1.2 percentage points.
