Important clarification by the Department of Statistics (DoS) on the implementation of the Seventh Population and Family Health Survey (PFHS)

The (DoS) began implementing the seventh (PFHS) on 1st October 2017 and would like to clarify the following points:

  • The survey sample covers twenty thousand (20,000) households out of two (2) million households in Jordan, therefore will not cover all citizens.
  • Blood tests will be carried out by trained and qualified interviewers using modern instruments and slices to be used once. The result appears immediately and then recorded in the questionnaire noting that nobody will retain any sample.
  • The blood test will include women in the age group (15-49 years) as well as children less than six years of age in order to provide health indicators on anemia. Weight and height will also be measured to identify the phenomena of stunting among children and obesity among women.
  • This survey aims also to provide data on reproduction, family planning and child nutrition as well as early childhood development in addition to demographic, social and economic data. Data on men (age group 15- 59) will also be collected.

The (DoS) expects full cooperation from all citizens with the interviewers after ascertaining validity of their ID cards bearing their relevant names, photos and seal of the (DoS). Collected data shall be treated with utmost confidentiality by virtue of the Statistics Act No. 12 of 2012.
