5.5% the Average decrease in Agricultural Producers’ Prices during December 2019

The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the Average Agricultural Producers’ Price Index for December 2019 by 5.5% compared with December 2018. (The Price Index reached 99.7 in December 2019 compared with 105.6 in December 2018).The most significant crops that contributed to this decrease were hot pepper 67.1%, sweet pepper 44.3%, potatoes 43.8%, green cabbage 41.1%, tomatoes 33.5%, colored sweet pepper 23.4%, squash 22.7%, string beans 14.7%, spinach 11.1% and eggplants by 10.4%.
( the total of their relative importance constituted 48.9% of the total indicator value).

Meanwhile, there was an increase in the price index of fennel 131.3%, cauliflower 83.6%, cucumber 83.5%, lemon 67.8%, carrot 46.9%, strawberry 32.5%, radish 27.8%, green maize 19.0%, clementine 15.9% and orange 15.0%.
(the total of their relative importance constituted 51.1% of the total indicator value ) .

The report also shows that the Price Index has decreased by 15.9% where it reached 99.7 in December 2019 as compared with 118.5 in November 2019.The most significant crops that contributed to this decrease (the total of their relative importance constituted 65.6%) were green onion 27.5%, orange 19.9%, string beans 19.3%,coloured sweet pepper 17.8%, spinach 8.2%, paprika 7.8%, potatoes 7.0%, banana 6.5%, squash 4.1% and eggplants 3.4%. Meanwhile, there was an increase in the price index of tomatoes 63.9%, carrot 23.0%, green lettuce 22.7%, mandarin 21.8%, mushrooms 18.9%, clementine 14.7%, Chinese lettuce 12.1%, cucumber 8.1%, lemon 8.0% and green cabbage 7.8% with a relative importance reached 34.4% .
