2.7% the Average Increase in Agricultural Producers’ Prices during August 2019
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates an increase in the Average Agricultural Producers’ Price Index for August 2019 by 2.7% compared with August 2018. (The Price Index reached 86.5 in August 2019 compared with 84.2 in August 2018) .The most significant crops that contributed to this increase were tomatoes 77.0%, green maize 69.1%, grape leaves 61.1%, string beans 59.3%, watermelon 59.1%, spinach 54.6%, green onions 45.2%, cantaloupe 38.5%, green lettuce 37.8% and cucumber by 29.0%.
( the total of their relative importance constituted 55.3% of total crops).
Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the price index of strawberry by 52.6%, snake cucumber 49.7%, cherry tomatoes 36.8%, hot pepper 32.2%, grapes 31.8%, green sweet pepper 22.9% ,cow peas 21.7%, okra 19.6%, green cabbage 19.1% and colored sweet pepper by 18.3% (the total of their relative importance constituted 44.7% of total crops ) .
