Department of Statistics: Industrial Production Index increased by 1.29% for July 2024
The General Department of Statistics issued its monthly report on the General Industrial Production Index (IPI), which recorded an increase by 1.29% for July 2024 compared to the previous month of June 2024 and an increase of 0.63% compared to the same month of 2023. On the accumulative level for the first seven months of 2024, the IPI has decreased by a slight rate of (0.04%) (less than one percentage point) compared to the same period in 2023. Note that the base year was modified to become (2018= 100) instead of (2010=100).
Accordingly, the IPI for July 2024 has reached 90.84 percentage points against 89.69 compared to the previous month of June 2024. The IPI for July 2024 has reached an amount of 90.84 against 90.27 for the same month of 2023. At the accumulative level for the first seven months of 2024, the IPI has reached 86.87 compared to 86.91 for the same period in 2023.
On the monthly change scale, the IPI for July 2024 increased compared to the previous month June of the same year as a result of an increase in the production quantities of the “Manufacturing Industries” sector by 1.58%, with a relative importance of 88.7% and “Quarrying Industries” by 0.02%, with a relative importance of 5.4%. Meanwhile there was a decrease in the production quantities of the “Electricity” sector by (1.95%), with a relative importance of 5.9%.
At the sectoral level, comparing the index for July 2024 with the same month of 2023, the production quantities of the “Manufacturing Industries” sector have increased by 0.23% with a relative importance of 88.7% and the production quantities of the “Quarrying Industries” sector by 11.25% with a relative importance of 5.4%. Meanwhile the production quantities of the “Electricity” sector has decreased by (2.38%) with a relative importance of 5.9%.
