Industrial Production Quantities increase by 0.1% during May 2019
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates an increase in the General Industrial Production Quantities for May 2019 to reach 89.1 against 89.0 for the same period of 2018 recording an increase by 0.1%. This mainly was a result of an increase in the production quantities of quarrying industries by 0.42 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2%. Meanwhile ,there was a decrease of manufacturing industries production by 0.26 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% and the quantities of electricity production by 0.06 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8% .
The report also indicates an increase in the industrial index number of the industrial production quantities for May 2019 to reach 89.1 against 86.1 for Apr 2019 to record an increase by 3.5%.This has resulted mainly from an increase in the production quantities of the manufacturing Industries by 2.96 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% , the quantities of the quarrying production by 0.20% percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% and the quantities of electricity production by 0.31 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%.
Comparing the production indices for the 1st five months of 2019, there was a decrease in the industrial production quantities to reach 87.8 against 88.2 for the same period of 2018, leading to a decrease in the index number of the industrial production by 0.4%.
This retreat has resulted of a decrease in the production index of manufacturing industries quantities by 0.96 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0%.Meanwhile ,there was an increase in the quarrying industries quantities by 0.34 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% and the production index of electricity by 0.20 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%.
