National exports increase by 45.5% and Imports by 38.6% during the first half of 2022
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicate that the value of total exports reached JD.4329.8 million during the first half of 2022 [i.e., an increase by 43.4% compared with the same period of 2021]. Meanwhile, the national exports value reached JD.3961.0 Million during the first half of 2022 [i.e. an increase by 45.5% compared with the same period of 2021]. The value of re-exports reached JD 368.8 million during the first half of 2022 which indicates an increase by 24.8% as compared with the same period of 2021. The imports value reached JD.9373.9 million during the first half of 2022, thus increasing by 38.6% compared with the same period of 2021.
The deficit in the trade balance, which is calculated by deducting the value of imports from the value of total exports, has reached JD.5044.1 million therefore, the deficit has increased during the first half of 2022 by 34.6% compared with the same period of 2021. The imports coverage by total exports has become 44.6% during the first half of 2021, while it was 46.2% for the same period of 2022, which means an increase by 1.6 percentage points.
