3.91% is the Increase of the Consumer Price Index for March 2023

The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates an increase in the Consumer Price Index for March 2023 to reach 108.83 against 104.73 for March 2022 recording an increase by 3.91%. This mainly was a result of the increase of Fuels and Lighting by 31.61%, Rents by 5.17%, Transportation by 3.68%, Dairy products and eggs by 9.50% and Health by 6.70%.

At the cumulative level, the average consumer price index for the first three months of 2023 has reached 108.26, compared to 104.11 for the same period in 2022, recording an increase of 3.98%. Among the most prominent commodity groups that contributed to this increase were the fuel and lighting group by 31.75%, Rents by 5.17%, Transportation by 3.24%, Dairy products and eggs by 8.73%, and Health by 6.71%.
