0.4% the Average decrease of the Inflation Rate for November 2019

The monthly report on inflation in Jordan issued by the Department of Statistics indicates that the Consumer Price Average (Inflation) reached 125.62 in November 2019 against 126.12 during the same month of 2018 recorded a decrease by 0.4%. The main commodities groups, which contributed to this decrease, were “Vegetables, Dried and Canned Legumes” by 0.65 percentage points, “Transport” by 0.32 percentage points, “Dairy and its products and eggs” by 0.20 percentage points, “Tobacco and Cigarettes” by 0.16 percentage points and “Fuel & lighting” by 0.12 percentage points. In contrast, the price increase of some commodities groups contributed in increasing the index number, such as “Rents” by 0.50 percentage points, “Meat & Poultry” by 0.13 percentage points, “Cereals” by 0.12 percentage points and “Education” by 0.11 percentage points.

On the monthly level, the Consumer Price index for November 2019 has increased by 0.3% compared with the previous month (October) 2019. The main commodities groups which contributed to this increase were “Meat & Poultry” by 0.16 percentage points, “Fruits & Nuts” by 0.11 percentage points, “Cereals” by 0.05 percentage points, “Vegetables, Dried and Canned Legumes” by 0.03 percentage points and “Fish and Seafood” by 0.01 percentage points. Meanwhile, the main groups which prices decrease contributed to the decrease of the Index number were “ Oils and Fats” and “ Transport” by 0.03 percentage points for each, “Fuel & lighting” by 0.01 percentage points and “Sugar and its products” by 0.006 percentage points.
