5.1% the Average Increase of the Inflation Rate for May 2018
The monthly report on inflation in Jordan issued by the Department of Statistics indicates that the Consumer Price Average (Inflation) reached 124.9 in May 2018 against 118.9 during May 2017 recorded an increase by 5.1%.The main commodities groups, which contributed to this increase, were “Transport” 1.50 percentage points, “Cereals and its Products” 1.09 percentage points, “Tobacco and cigarettes” 0.62% percentage points, “Meats and Poultry” 0.43 percentage points and “rents” 0.43% percentage points . Meanwhile, the main commodities groups which witnessed a decrease in their prices were “Vegetables, Dried and Canned Legumes” by 0.10% percentage points “clothes” 0.09% , “fruits and nuts” 0.04% percentage points and “shoes” 0.02% percentage points.
The Consumer Price Average for May 2018 has increased by 0.5% compared with the previous month (April) 2018.The main commodities groups which contributed to this increase were “Transport” 0.26% percentage points, “Meat and poultry” 0.14 percentage points, “Fuel and |lightening” 0.11 percentage points, “Vegetables, Dried and Canned Legumes” 0.08 percentage points “culture and entertainment ” 0.04 percentage points. Meanwhile, the main groups which witnessed a decrease in their prices were “drinks and beverage” 0.04 percentage points, Fruits and Nuts” 0.03 percentage points, “Diary and its products and egg” 0.03% percentage points and “ Cereals and its products” 0.01%.
