12.4% the Average Increase in Agricultural Producers’ Prices during Mar 2019
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates an increase in the Average Agricultural Producers’ Price Index for Mar 2019 by 12.4% compared with Mar 2018. (The Price Index reached 132.0 in Mar 2019 compared with 117.5 in Mar 2018).The most significant crops that contributed to this increase were tomatoes 217.3%, green lettuce 157.6%, green onions 93.0%, eggplants 82.4%, green almond 72.7%, grapes leaves 71.4%, potatoes 34.8%, cucumber 17.0%, Jews mallow 16.3% and colored sweet pepper by 15.2%.
( the total of their relative importance constituted 70.3% of the total indicator value).
Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the price index of hot pepper, fennel, spinach, cauliflower, strawberry, green cabbage, dry onion, chickpeas ,lemon and broad beans by
(50.4%), (43.8%), (36.3%), (21.9%), (16.4%), (16.2%), (13.4%), (9.3%), (8.2%) and (6.5%) respectively (the total of their relative importance constituted 29.7% of the total indicator value ) .
The report also shows that the Price Index has increased by 18.6% in Feb 2019 as compared with Mar 2019 (the price index reached 132.0 in Mar 2019 compared with 111.2 in Feb 2019). The most significant crops that contributed to this increase (the total of their relative importance constituted 51.0%) were broccoli 72.9%, tomatoes 63.7%, fennel 51.6%, lemon 49.3%, hot pepper 41.5%, carrot 27.2%, colored sweet pepper 23.4%, cauliflower 20.2%, cucumber 18.9% and potatoes 6.9%. Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the price index of grape leaves, broad beans, green cabbage, chick peas, thyme, eggplants, spinach, orange, dry onion and strawberry by (44.8%), (44.3%), (39.5%), (37.7%), (24.9%), (12.5%), (11.0%), (10.1%), (6.6%) and (6.2%) respectively with a relative importance reached 49.0% .
