23.2% the Average Decrease in Agricultural Producers’ Prices during January 2021

The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the Average Agricultural Producers’ Price Index for January 2021 by 23.2% compared with January 2020. (The Price Index reached 76.9 in January 2021 compared with 100.2 in January 2020).The most significant crops that contributed to this decrease were Tomatoes by 90.2%, Cucumber by 61.5%, Cauliflower by 52.7%,Spinach by 47.1%, Green Lettuce by 46.8%, Eggplants by 43.6%, Green Cabbage 41.1%, squash 38.8%, String Beans by 31.9% and Green Corn 31.0%. (The total of their relative importance constituted 76.1% of the total indicator value).

Meanwhile, there was an increase in the price index of Grapefruit by 117.3%, Mandarin by 29.6%, Dates by 28.4%, Clementine by 26.7%, Mandarin Oranges by 24.4%, Oranges by 12.4%, Cherry Tomato by 6.7%, Bananas by 4.9%, Green Onions by 3.8% and Mushrooms by 1.9%.(The total of their relative importance constituted 23.9% of the total indicator value).
