9.3% the Average Decrease in Agricultural Producers’ Prices during December 2017
The data issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the Average Agricultural Producers’ Price Index for December 2017 by 9.3% compared with December 2016. (The Price Index reached 90.7 in December 2017 compared with 100.0 in December 2016).The most significant crops that contributed to this decrease were eggplants (48.3%), green sweet pepper (68.5%), cucumber (44.0%), cauliflower (59.7%), squash (42.7%), string beans (32.2%), spinach (41.0%), maize (43.7%), hot pepper (35.9%) and carrot (32.3%).( the total of their relative importance constituted 59.8% of the total number of the commodities in the indicator).
Meanwhile, there was an increase in the price index of tomato, orange, colored sweet pepper, clementine, pommel, apple, mandarin, strawberries, mint and mushroom by (54.4%), (26.2%), (153.2%), (11.1%), (16.8%), (17.8%), (30.1%), (9.3%), (75.1%) and (33.9%) respectively (the total of their relative importance constituted 40.2% of the total number of the commodities in the indicator).
