Minor decrease in the prices of wholesale trade,Q1 2017
Data issued by the Department of Statistics on the wholesale trade prices indicate a decrease in the average of wholesale trade prices for the first quarter of 2017 by 0.4% as compared with the same period of 2016. This was a result of a decrease in the prices of the group of” motor vehicles and their parts and motorcycles” by 0.3%, the group of “Sale of machinery, equipment and supplies” by 9.6%, while there was an increase in the prices of the group ” sale of agricultural raw materials, grains, food, beverages and tobacco” by 0.5%, the group of “sale of textiles, clothing and personal housing products” by 0.4% and “Sale of fuel, metals and construction materials and fitting” by 1.9%.
The data also indicate an increase in the general wholesale trade price index for the first quarter of 2017 by 1.4% as compared with the fourth quarter of 2016. This has resulted from the increase in the prices of the group of” Sale of motor vehicles and their parts and motorcycles” by 0.3% , “sale of agricultural raw materials, grains, food, beverages and tobacco” by 1.6%, the group of “sale of textiles, clothing and personal housing products” by 4.0%, the group of “Sale of fuel, metals and construction materials and fitting” by 2.6% which their relative importance constitutes 19.8%, 39.2%, 10.9% and 20.8% respectively. Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the prices of the group of “Sale of machinery, equipment and supplies” by 2.9% with a relative importance of 9.3%.
