1.5% the average decrease of the producer’s prices index for 2019 compared with 2018

The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the producer’s prices index for 2019 to reach 119.5 against 121.3 for the same period of 2018 recorded a decrease by 1.5%. This mainly was a result of a decrease in the index number of the prices of the manufacturing Industries by 1.89 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% and the index number of the prices of the electricity by 0.06 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8% .Meanwhile, there was an increase in the index number of the prices of quarrying industries by 0.48 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2%.

Comparing the producer’s prices index for December 2019 it has reached 117.5 against 121.4 for the same month of 2018 leading a decrease by 3.2%. This has resulted mainly from a decrease in the index number of the prices of the manufacturing Industries by 3.04 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% and the index number of the prices of the quarrying industries by 0.42 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% .Meanwhile the index number of the prices of the electricity has increased by 0.26 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%.

The report also indicate an increase in the industrial producer’s index number in December 2019 to reach 117.5 against 117.3 for November 2019 to record an increase by 0.2%.This mainly has resulted from an increase in the index number of the prices of quarrying production by 0.27 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% and the index number of the prices of the electricity by 0.09 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%. Meanwhile there was a decrease in the index number of the prices of the manufacturing Industries by 0.18 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0%.
