Industrial Production Quantities decrease by 6.8% during April 2018

The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the General Industrial Production Quantities for Apr 2018 to reach 87.0 against 93.3 for the same month of 2017 recorded a decrease by 6.8% .This mainly was a result of a decrease in the production quantities of the manufacturing Industries index by 6.41 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% and the quantities of quarrying production index by 0.40 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2%.Meanwhile, there was an increase in the quantities of electricity production index by 0.01 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%.
The report also indicates an increase in the industrial index number of the industrial production for Apr 2018 to reach 87.0 against 85.4 for Mar 2018 to grow by 1.8%. This has resulted mainly from an increase in the production quantities of the manufacturing Industries index by 2.31 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0%. Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the quantities of quarrying production index by 0.21 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% and the quantities of electricity production index by 0.28 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%.

Comparing the index number of the first four months of 2018, it shows a decrease in the industrial index number of the industrial production to reach 87.8 versus 93.6 for the same period of 2017, by 6.2% decrease compared with the same period of 2017; this mainly was a result of a retreat in the production quantities of the manufacturing Industries by 6.12 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% and
the quantities of electricity production index by 0.15 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%. Meanwhile, there was an increase in quantities of quarrying production by 0.08 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2%.
