Industrial Production Quantities increase by 0.1% during January

The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates an increase in the General Industrial Production Quantities for Jan 2018 to reach 94.9 against 94.8 for the same month of 2017 recorded an increase by 0.1% as compared with same month 2016. This mainly was a result of an increase in the production quantities of the quarrying Industries by 18.8% with a relative importance of 8.2%, representing an increase of 0.5 percentage points. Meanwhile, there was a decrease in and the quantities of manufacturing industries production by 1.6% with a relative importance of 86.0%.this sector has contributed to the decrease of the index number by 0.45 percentage points. And the quantities of electricity production by 0.1% with a relative importance of 5.8% representing a decrease of 0.001 percentage points.
The report also indicates a decrease in the industrial index number of the industrial production for Jan 2018 to reach 94.9 against 96.6 for Dec. 2017 to grow by 1.8%. This has resulted mainly from a decrease in the production quantities of the manufacturing Industries by 1.9% with a relative importance of 86.0% representing a decrease of 1.7 percentage points and the quantities of quarrying production by 5.7% with a relative importance of 8.2% this sector has contributed to the decrease of industrial index number by 0.5 percentage points. Meanwhile, there was an increase in the quantities of electricity production by 6.2% with a relative importance of 5.8% this sector has contributed to the increase of industrial index number by 0.4 percentage points.
