Industrial Production Quantities increase by 0.1% during December
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates an increase in the General Industrial Production Quantities for Dec 2017 to reach 96.8 against 96.7 for the same month of 2016 recording an increase by 0.1%. This mainly was a result of an increase in the production quantities of quarrying industries by 13.6% with a relative importance of 8.2% representing an increase of 0.5 percentage points. Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the production quantities of the manufacturing Industries by 0.8% with a relative importance of 86.0%, this sector has contributed to the decrease of the industrial index number by 0.3 percentage points and the quantities of electricity production by 4.8% with a relative importance of 5.8% representing a decrease of 0.1 percentage points.
The report also indicates a decrease in the industrial index number of the industrial production for Dec 2017 to reach 96.8 against 97.9 for Nov of the same year to retreat by 1.2%.This has resulted mainly from a decrease in the production quantities of the manufacturing Industries by 3.0% with a relative importance of 86.0% representing a decrease of 2.8 percentage points. Meanwhile, there was an increase the quantities of quarrying production by 8.6% with a relative importance of 8.2%, this sector has contributed to the increase of the index number by 0.8 percentage points and the quantities of electricity production by 13.5%.with a relative importance of 5.8%, this sector has contributed to the increase of the industrial index number by 0.9 percentage points.
