Industrial Production Index decrease by 8.6% during August 2019
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the General Industrial Production Index for August 2019 to reach 87.1 against 95.3 for the same month of 2018 recording a decrease by 8.6%. This mainly was a result of a decrease in the production index of manufacturing industries by 9.84 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0%. Meanwhile ,there was an increase of quarrying industries production by 1.12 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% and the quantities of electricity production by 0.10 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8% .
The report also indicates a decrease in the industrial index number of the industrial production index for August 2019 to reach 87.1 against 93.4 for July 2019 to record a decrease by 6.7%. This has resulted mainly from a decrease in the production index of the manufacturing Industries by 7.16 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% and the quantities of electricity production by 0.01 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%. Meanwhile, there was an increase in the quantities of the quarrying production by 0.43% percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2%
Comparing the production indices for the 1st eight months of 2019, there was a decrease in the industrial production index to reach 88.5 against 90.1 for the same period of 2018, leading to a decrease in the index number of the industrial production by 1.8%.
