Industrial Production Index decrease by 1.1% during June 2019
The monthly report issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the General Industrial Production Index for June 2019 to reach 88.4 against 89.4 for the same period of 2018 recording a decrease by 1.1%. This mainly was a result of a decrease in the production index of manufacturing industries by 2.2 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0%. Meanwhile ,there was an increase of quarrying industries production by 0.78 percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% and the quantities of electricity production by 0.37 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8% .
The report also indicates a decrease in the industrial index number of the industrial production index for June 2019 to reach 88.4 against 88.9 for May 2019 to record a decrease by 0.5%.This has resulted mainly from a decrease in the production index of the manufacturing Industries by 1.79 percentage points with a relative importance of 86.0% .Meanwhile, there was an increase in the quantities of the quarrying production by 0.81% percentage points with a relative importance of 8.2% and the quantities of electricity production by 0.47 percentage points with a relative importance of 5.8%.
Comparing the production indices for the 1st six months of 2019, there was a decrease in the industrial production index to reach 87.9 against 88.4 for the same period of 2018, leading to a decrease in the index number of the industrial production by 0.6%.
