His royal highness Prince Hassan stresses the importance of statistical outputs at the development process

Amman, July 26 (Petra) – Prince Hassan bin Talal affirmed on Thursday the importance of the role of the Department of Statistics in providing data and information that contribute to the process of development in Jordan.
During his visit to the Department of Statistics accompanied with H.R.H Princess Sumaya Bint Al Hassan Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mary Kawar and Director General of the Department Dr. Qasem Al-Zoubi, he stressed the importance of developing statistical work to meet the humanitarian objective and the requirements of the living citizen.

H.R.H emphasized the importance of the active use of the figures taken from analyzing economic and social reality to be reflected into plans and executive programs which ends with evaluating results through matching new figures.
His Highness also pointed out the importance of introducing studies that refer to behavior, culture and thought , identifying all the real data of the residents,
Highlighting their different characteristics and facilitating the task of exchanging information to directly benefit the citizen, noting that the process of networking between national institutions through the national strategy launched by the Department of Statistics and the status of citizens, making them partners in this strategy through different social institutions , has an important role in this regard.
H.R.H praised the efforts exerted by the Department of Statistics in providing the necessary data, which their results should be reflected in the citizen’s standard of living.

The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mary Kawar in her turn stressed the importance of statistical data produced by the Department in the implementation of development programs, H.E. added that the electronic transformation in all the Department’s work which lead to a quantum leap in providing statistical data and developing the quality of the statistical work in the kingdom, where the department provided data in various aspects (demographic, economic, social and environmental).

She also mentioned that the Department of Statistics completed the development of a national statistical strategy for the years 2018-2022, which was prepared with the active participation of all ministries and concerned official institutions, as well as representatives of the private sector and civil society institutions to achieve the production of statistical data that meet the national development needs , administrative records and indicators of sustainable development.

The Director General of the Department of Statistics, Dr. Qasem Al-Zoubi explained the achievements of the department and the national strategy aimed at raising the institutional capacities of the statistical departments and units in the national institutions, improving the quality of the data and helping to meet the needs of the renewable statistical data to achieve the objectives of sustainable development in Jordan.
He pointed out that the concept of strategy focuses on decentralization in statistics, where ministries and partner institutions will prepare operational plans for the development of statistics.
