13.9% the Average Increase in Agricultural Producers’ Prices during Dec 2018

The data issued by the Department of Statistics indicates an increase in the Average Agricultural Producers’ Price Index for Dec 2018 by 13.9% compared with Dec 2017. (The Price Index reached 102.9 in Dec 2018 compared with 90.3 in Dec 2017).The most significant crops that contributed to this increase were eggplants 76.1%, cabbage 266.1%, green sweet pepper 40.7%, tomato 28.5%, potato 21.8%, string beans 55.2%, squash 40.3%, hot pepper 123.2%, spinach 54.5% and cauliflower by 30.1%.
( the total of their relative importance constituted 59.2% of the total indicator value).
Meanwhile, there was a decrease in the price index of cucumber, orange, lemon, clementine, pommels, carrot, strawberry, grape fruit, mint and turnips by ( 47.7%), (21.3%), (14.8%), (7.1%), (16.3%), (18.6%), (12.6%), (20.1%), (72.7%) and (12.4%) respectively (the total of their relative importance constituted 40.8% of the total indicator value ) .
The report also shows that the Price Index has decreased by (17.5%) in Dec 2018 as compared with Nov 2018 (the price index reached 102.9 in Dec 2018 compared with 124.8 in Nov 2018). The most significant crops that contributed to this decrease (the total of their relative importance constituted 70.7% were orange (21.0%), cucumber (32.0%), green sweet pepper (15.7%), squash (26.7%), cauliflower (24.6%), colored sweet pepper (35.1%), eggplant (3.1%), spinach (18.5%), carrot (29.6%) and fennel (46.1%). Meanwhile, there was an increase in the price index of tomato, maize, cabbage, dates, olives, clementine, strawberry, banana, hot pepper and grape leaves by 16.6%, 35.2%, 32.5%, 101.3%, 28.5%, 1.7%, 13.5%, 2.7%,7.2% and 318.6% respectively with a relative importance reached 29.3%.
On the accumulative level, the Price Index of Agricultural Producers has decreased by (5.9%) for 2018 as compared with the same period of 2017 (the accumulative price index reached 103.5% for 2018 compared with 110.0 for the same period of 2017). The most significant crops whose Price Index Average contributed to this decrease were green sweet pepper by (16.6%), eggplants (7.8%), tomato (40.7%) and string beans (6.6%), whose their relative importance constituted 33.3%. Meanwhile, there was an increase in the price index of cauliflower ,hot pepper, colored sweet pepper, cucumber, squash, banana and potato by 12.8%, 4.6%, 51.3%, 17.7% ,20.3% ,3.2% and 0.2% respectively with a relative importance of 66.7%.
