13% the Average Decrease in Agricultural Producers’ Prices during July 2017 Compared with July 2016

The data issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the Average Agricultural Producers’ Price Index for July 2017 by 13.2% compared with July 2016. (The Price Index reached 86.8 in July 2017 compared with 100.0 in July 2016).The most significant crops that contributed to this decrease were tomato 72.0%, watermelon 49.1%, potato 28.9%, peach 18.5%, squash 37.3%, cantaloupe 45.9%, onion 19.3%, eggplants 23.0%, lemon 27.8% and lettuce 53.9%.( the total of their relative importance constituted 68.0% of the total indicator value).

Meanwhile, there was an increase in the price index of plum, grapes, cactus, okra, grape leaves, wheat, apple, cabbage, carrot and hot pepper by 80.9%, 11.1%, 84.6%, 24.3%, 41.6%, 11.0%, 16.0%, 61.7%, 69.7% and 34.3% respectively (the total of their relative importance constituted 32.0% of the total indicator value).
The report also shows that the Price Index has decreased by 21.7% in July 2017 as compared with June 2017 (the price index reached 86.8 in July 2017 compared with 110.8 in June 2017). The most significant crops that contributed to this decrease (the total of their relative importance constituted 62.0%) were watermelon 30.7%, tomato 17.7%, potato 9.8%, cantaloupe 36.3%, cactus 57.2%, colored sweet pepper 37.8%, gapes leaves 35.2%, grapes 3.6%, onion 6.7% and hot pepper 31.3%.

Meanwhile, there was an increase in the price index of cucumber, squash, cabbage, peach, cauliflowers, plum, beans, pears, nectarine and spinach by 152.6%, 102.8%, 233.8%, 11.6%, 34.2%, 17.1%, 37.9%, 18.7%, 10.0% and 39.3% respectively with a relative importance of 38.0%. Meanwhile there was no change in the basil prices during this period with very little relative importance.
